New Life

I have been waiting for today for several weeks now.

I have been having to keep a secret.

I hate secrets. I hate when people know one that you don't know. I hated when kids in my third grade class would whisper secrets and share them. I am a firm supporter of the "secrets, secrets are no fun..." chant.

So I am excited to share mine.

One of my best and dearest friends Alicia and Patrick are expecting their first child!!!!!

You didn't think this post was going to be about me, did you? I'm not expecting anything other than to gain ten more pounds from all the ice cream I have been eating. But that's another post for another day.

Today is about them! I love them. They are my people. I can't count how many times I used to spend the night with them when they were first married. Totally invading of me, but if I was in distress, they opened the door and the guest bed. And either Gidget or Riley to snuggle with (the chihuahuas). They are insanely in love with one another it's almost sickening. But it's not. Because loving your spouse unconditionally and selflessly is a wonderful and rare thing. So knowing the capability they have to love, leaves no doubt that anything will be any different with their new little addition!

I am so excited for the two of them. And selfishly, I am excited that I get a new little "niece/nephew" to spoil rotten until the day when the Lord decides to bless Kyle and I with our heritage. Psalm 127:3 says "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward." A gift.

Patrick and Alicia, I love you both dearly! I could not be more excited for the richness that is about to be added to your lives and I am so grateful and honored and privileged to get to be a part of it!

Kimberly's Wedding

Two weekends ago, Kimberly and Nathan got married! Kimberly was one of my first friends at Mississippi State and we roomed together in the Phi Mu house our sophomore year. Kyle and I ventured down to Gulfport that Thursday night and spent the night with his cousin and her husband. I wasn't very good with taking pictures. I think I was just so caught up in the excitement of it all. Weddings. I love.

Their rehearsal dinner was at Chimneys. A cute little restaurant right on the beach.
My handsome, unshaven, in-need-of-a-haircute date.
Sweet friends.State bridesmaids.
Booooooo Hotty Toddy. Go DAWGS!
Our first wedding together as a married couple. Believe it or not, he actually danced. :)
Me and the bestie. Sweaty after breaking it down.
Do it Kimberly! They were sweet though, no smashing cake in the face.
He got it!
We had a wonderful time with great friends. It was nice to be able to actually spend time with everyone. That's one perk of not being the bride! I hated that I couldn't spend more time with my friends when I got married, so this definitely made up for it.

Congrats Kimberly and Nathan!!!!

Quarter of a Century

Milestone #25. Yikes (no offense to everyone older than me).

It came and went and I feel no different. Not sure if I am supposed to or not though. Am I?

The celebration began Thursday night. Kyle and I were supposed to just go to Travis and Kayla's house for dinner, but when we got there the dental crew was waiting there for us! Being the birthday girl and all, I got to choose where we went to dinner!!! Sushi. Duh.
After dinner, we went back to the Sisco's for cupcakes and birthday hats...
Making a wish...Travis is too! haha
The husbands.
Me with the husbands.
The better halves. And such sweet friends!
Hubs.
Friday night Kyle and I relaxed at home. Saturday morning, I woke up to this feast. No lie, best pancakes of my life!
He also treated me to these gorgeous candlesticks. I saw them in Pier 1 a few months ago, and my smart husband stored it in his little memory bank.

After breakfast, I got dressed and met the dental wives for pedicures at the NailBar on the Island. They treated me to a delicious pedicure. Hadn't had one since the wedding, and let's just say it was time. They are too sweet!
Kyle told me after pedicures I HAD to come back home. I mean really...Whose birthday is it??? So being a submissive wife (hehe), I came home. Around 1:00ish, Kate, Claire, and Rachael showed up at the door to take me to lunch. We ate at Cafe Eclectic. YUM!!! Different types of simple dishes, but oh so good.
Saturday night, Kyle and I attended a cookout for DownLine. We start next week and are ready to learn and share!

Sunday was spent at church, lunch at the Selecman's (we love them dearly), and then a crab leg feast at my parents' house that night. Traditional birthday dinner. No pictures to show for it :( Now that I am a working girl, I have been sending my mom my wishlists from my favorite stores, just in case she ever wants to spoil me ;) And it paid off. She bought me three tops off of one of my wishlists. Subtle hints don't exist in our family.

And today at work, I got some wonderful cupcakes and a sweet sweet card from my co-workers. They are fantastic folks and I love them dearly. They make going to work everyday something to look forward to! Oh, and they also gave me a gift card to Bed, Bath, and Beyond. They know me too well!

Here's what I racked up with:
-two gorgeous candlesticks

-a wonderful smelling candle from Avery Kate (and Alecia)

-a sweet, sweet card and spa gift card from my friend Springer (she's too much sometimes)

-a Southern Living subscription from my incredible mother-in-law

-pretty flowers from the wives club

-shirts for work from my momma

-lots of loving cards from family

-moolah from the father and g-parents (can never go wrong with this gift)

TOO BLESSED!!!!

Status:????

So I told you that I took the big bad boards yesterday.

Well the way people used to find out whether or not they passed was to wait several days and then go to some website and look to see if they had a license number. Well, I don't know what changed or why it changed but my classmates have been finding out anywhere from midnight of the day they took the test on...So don't think I slept very good last night. Because I didn't. Literally checked every 30 minutes until my body, mind, and eyes had had enough.

I texted my friend Rachael at 5:17 this morning and the jury was still out. Apparently I dozed back off and woke up to her text at 6:38 asking if there was any new news. Checked again and this is what the computer screen said:Praise the LORD!!!!!! Seriously, all glory to Him!!! I could NOT have made it through this test alone with a passing grade. I mean don't get me wrong, I studied my butt off (not literally because somehow I managed to gain a lot of weight in the past four week buts that's neither here nor there). Rachael left me with this verse before I went to bed the night before the test:

"The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing while the sould of the diligent is richly supplied." Proverbs 13:4

Richly supplied indeed!

Thank you to everyone who lifted up some big ol' prayers for me! I really appreciate it and it made a huge impact on not just the results of my test, but on my feelings and emotions.

With all that being said, anyone need a physical therapist? ;)

Pure Exhaustion

Early morning. Hot, hot day. Wiped out.

Today was the big bad boards. Didn't sleep too well last night. And it wasn't because I was too excited to sleep :)

That consumed the first several hours of my day. And then I spent several hours after that at the drivers license center. I am not sure which was worse.

The boards were tough. Very tiring. My eyes are tired. My mind is tired. I have no feeling towards either passing or failing. Literally numb. Tomorrow morning will tell all. I did, however, get a nice little laugh before I took my test this morning. This courteous sign was posted in the bathroom at the testing center at University of Memphis. I apologize to those of you who don't appreciate bathroom humor. It was a welcomed surprise and provided me with a good laugh to break up the nervousness.
The DMV. Nightmare. The line was out the door. No lie. After 30 minutes of waiting outside in the hot sun and 104 degree weather, I was lucky enough to wait in line inside for another hour. And that was just to get a clipboard to fill out my information. I then waited ANOTHER hour and half to speak with a representative. After three hours, I am officially Courtney McShan. Took care of the SSN card yesterday. It's officially official! (Looking rough after sweating for several hours)Spent some time with Claire this afternoon which was a wonderful distraction from worrying about boards. We attempted to eat a late sushi lunch, but for whatever reason EVERY single sushi restaurant was closed. I didn't realize the Japanese took siestas as well. I was devastated.

Came home to a sweet hubby who had an even sweeter beeper attached to his pocket! Haha. He is on call for his residency program. I haven't seen a beeper in a while. I got a pretty good laugh out of it.No telling how old this thing is or whose mouth its been in...And then I walked into the bedroom to find this. A REALLY loving card from a really loving husband. It was very encouraging and uplifting after what was a very "beating down" of a morning,
Sweet, sweet words that make my heart melt. (Please notice he signed his last name. Like I'm going to forget who my husband is. And like we don't share that name now. Silly.)
For those who prayed for me this morning, thank you. And if anyone still wants to, by all means. Nothing is final until I check to see the results in the morning. I would appreciate greatly.

Til tomorrow...
