Little Touches
Sunday after church, Kendall and I made a quick little run to Garden Ridge, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Macy's. Kyle and I still have some gift cards lying around and our walls and windows are empty, so the girls went shopping. I was under strict advisement to spend only gift cards. I sadly agreed. One day. One day....
I did manage to find some cute little things that just happened to be on sale. Just little touches. Nothing to drastically change the way our sad, bare walls look, but just little things to begin to make this house feel a little more like our home.
I bought the same panels in two different colors. Just to see. During the day, the green ones just faded into the walls, which are this butter yellow kind of color. So we, and by we I mean I, stuck with the burnt orange ones. It's hard to tell but the pillows in the couch sort of have the same color thread running through them.
I hate where the tv is and how big it is (Kyle says a tv can't be too big). But this is the ONLY place in the living room it can go. What do ya do? That strange yellow panel in the middle window, don't ask. They were there when we moved in, and when I have the time, it's coming down.
Close up of the fabric. These are just cheap little curtains from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I dream of the day when we own our own home and I can make custom curtains :) Oh, to dream.
Then at Macy's we stumbled upon two little clearance tables of decorative pieces. I found the tall vase first and when I saw that it was 50% off, I got really happy. Then I found the gray bowl, which wasn't on the table, but was also half off! Even happier. So I bought both of these and we were on our way out of the store.
And on the way out, we walked by this pretty plate. We weren't sure if it was on sale, but the sweet man helping us earlier said if it wasn't half off, he'd give me the discount anyway. Why doesn't this ever happen when you're clothes shopping? It did however ring up half off so, SOLD!

Designing Woman
I was a little unrealistic in how long it would take to decorate our house. I'm such a type-A personality that I just assumed it would all get done rather quickly. You know what they say about assuming...
There is NOTHING hung on any of our walls. We need some life in here. Especially when I am inside all day studying. I need to have something interesting to look at (not that my board review book isn't).
We have a big empty wall behind our couch that needed something. I was hoping to find a steal at a garage sale that I could pretty up myself, but let's be honest...I am NOT getting up at 6 in the morning on a Saturday to do so. Nor do I have the time.
Found this at Hobby Lobby (yes, I am sacrificing quality for looks). Well, I hope so at least. Your thoughts?
And there is the huge empty space above the table...
Which I am thinking of doing something like this to...
No or go? Any other cute ideas????

The Need for a Little Shout-Out
I just want to tell everyone about my very special friend, Rachel Goggan Buckley. She was in my pledge class in Phi Mu at Mississippi State and was one of my most favorite people.
Rachel has started a photography business called BLUSH by Rachel. She and her wonderful husband, John Paul, have recently moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and gotten her business up and running.
Rachel has such a sweet spirit about her that can make anyone feel like her best friend (in a completely natural, non-phony way). Her and John Paul's love for the Lord is totally evident through their love for each other and the love expressed to not only their friends, but complete strangers as well.
If anyone in the magnolia state needs a photographer for engagement pictures, weddings, baby pictures, or even just a fun photo shoot with your significant other, CALL HER! You will no doubt enjoy every moment you spend with her, and duh, you'll have fantastic photos!

The Beginnings of a Domestic Goddess
In the two weeks that we have been married I have already lost count of how many loads of laundry I have done, yet I hadn't cooked a meal in OUR home yet. Until last night. My mom makes mac n' cheese with smoked sausage, and it is sooo good. And most importantly, its ridiculously easy to make. Perfect way to start if you ask me. May not look good in this picture, but if only you could taste it ;)
I even got out the placemats and everything! We ate at the pub table since our dining room table is now covered in both dental and physical therapy board review materials. He was excited (or maybe that's a nervous smile).
I thought he was really enjoying it and then he does this......
He put KETCHUP on top of what I thought was my stand-alone delicious creation!!!! He swears he has been doing this for a long time. Anyone want to confirm this for me?

If anyone wants to throw me a surprise party for the big 2-5, I'm cheap. Take me to Chick-Fil-A :)

Patriotic Bach Beach Bash
My good friend Kimberly is getting married in August, and we celebrated her bachelorette party this past weekend in Destin.
Kyle and I had just gotten back late Monday night and I turned around and left again Thursday. I was sad to leave him so soon but very excited about a weekend with the girls! I don't know what we are going to do when everyone is done getting married. We are going to have to find other excuses to see so much of each other.
I was horrible about taking pictures all weekend, so sorry, friends, for stealing yours :)
Saturday morning, we woke up to a wonderful breakfast followed by a lingerie shower. Anytime we can have a shower in pajamas, I'm game! I did actually take a bunch of pictures during that, but just in case Nathan reads this (which I highly doubt), we need to keep things a surprise!

Mrs. Patty surprised everyone with a limo!!!! It was so much fun!

Two Week Survival
It's been a little over two week since Kyle and I said "I do." So far, so great! We had, what I thought, was a beautiful ceremony followed by a really fun reception. Needless to say, we were exhausted on Sunday.
Honeymoon in Cabo was unreal! The resort we stayed at was beautiful and HUGE! We spent several days walking around downtown Cabo and had such a fun time taking it all in. We almost got sucked into buying a time-share, but we resisted (due to the fact that newlyweds post-professional generally don't have expendable cash like that). Ohhh the thought of owning our own little piece of paradise...

We were so tired when we got there we took a little afternoon nap and ended sleeping til 10:30. This was before we had our almost midnight snack.

The waves at our resort were HUGE! That's just the splash from the wave. The waves themselves were probably 20 feet or so. No swimming for us.

Since we couldn't swim on the Pacific side where our resort was, we took a glass bottom boat out to Land's End and Lover's Beach for the day. Gorgeous!

We asked around for some good local restaurants. We wanted to be "authentic" haha. One of the employees recommended this little wonder. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!
Dinner at Misiones.
The day we decided to go deep sea fishing. Best of intentions. This was at 6:00 in the morning. Pre-sea sickness.
We had been on the boat about an hour and all of a sudden I had this unbelievable urge to yack. Gross, I know. So I sat in the back corner of the boat with my blue bucket (visible in picture below). The ONLY thing that wanted to take our bait was a little mahi mahi. And I caught it. But that's only because everyone felt bad for me. Looking good, I know.

They had asked us when we arrived if we were celebrating a special occasion. We just casually mentioned we were on our honeymoon, and this was the sweet little treat they brought us in addition to the dessert we had already ordered. Don't mind if I do!
The last day we were there, we ate out downtown again. LaGolandrino (I think that's how you spell it). If I remember right, this was one of the first restaurants in Cabo and used to be at trailer park. We couldn't even finish our meal. Three lobster tails already cut for us, what had to be close to a 10-oz filet, shrimp, and scallops. We were hurting. But it was soooo good. Kyle isn't a fan of shellfish, but he has started to eat more shrimp. We'll break him in slowly :)

We had such a good time, but were definitely glad to be home once we finally got back to Memphis. Thanks a million to Bruce and Ramona for such a memorable honeymoon! We are beyond grateful! And if you want to send us on anniversary trips, we wouldn't object :)
Now it's back to the grind of studying for boards. But not before another trip to the beach. Will post on that later...
